Progress Update Blog Post 4

Welcome back to another blogpost for Westgate, the cyberpunk western metroidvania from Team Western Dystopia! Here's what we've been hard at work doing since the last post.

Darren finished work on the crystals for the mines and has begun to work on the save room areas!

Nathan added more areas to explore and made some area's smaller for better immersion. Some area's are even hidden for the player to discover. New tiles were added which were made by Darren, so Nathan began implementing and blending them into the mine level. A sample of the work in progress tilework can be seen below:

Alex continued to work on sprites. The group clarified which ones were needed and now she has a set list to work off of. She is just checking off what she gets done from the completed list. As of writing, she has fully completed running sprites for looking right and running right, looking left and running left, looking right and running left, etc. Not much to be shown this week since things are very work-in-progress, but will have more to share in time for the next post!

Nick implemented the player's gun sprite into GameMaker, reworked the coin design, worked on animating the cactus blocker enemy, and has started expanding upon the shooter enemy's design and animation set.

Brady continued work on enemy programming and has successfully gotten the ranged enemy to accurately aim and shoot at the player as they move. He is currently continuing work on the melee attack and screen transitions for moving to a new room and changing screens.
