Update Blog Post


With the Completion of Sprint 1 (25%), our team is now moving towards Sprint 2 (50%) which will start the development of Mines that are located under the town in the game. But first, let's recap Sprint 1.

Sprint 1 established the general direction of our Metroidvania. A boss keys diagram was created to give us an idea of how the player will progress through the world. This has helped the team determine what needs worked on next for Sprint 2. Sprint 1 also includes a lot of concept sketches of our main character, the town, and some unseen work of the Mines. So, what comes next?

In Sprint 2, the team will work to develop the Mines under the town. The Mines are going to be a big and important part of the Metroidvania because this is where the player will spend most of their time saving the towns people, honing their skills, and taking on bad guys! The focus is to get a general idea for space by first creating concept sketches and then blocking it out within GameMaker. This will also require us to continue refining the player movement to make it feel just right for our game. After we have blocked out a space that feels right, we will begin to add environment art to start giving the space its identity. Our team will also be developing concept art for NPCs, our town, enemies, collectables, HUD and much more.
